It all starts with a good base map! If you can find a clean black and white image, run it through the Image Trace tool in Illustrator, and change the line weights and color fills-I would say that is 70% changed from the original, wouldn’t you? I always roll my eyes when there are copyright restrictions on black-outline maps. Maybe someone can convince me why these really should be protected. Even if someone downloaded the same map, outlined it, and made it black/white-it would still look the same. I know there is an answer there, so for now-I will continue to change the image by 70% in order to call it “original”.
