Location Site and Situation Good Color-01

About this Page:

Dan Harris is responsible for my zombie deer. I really do try to draw and complete whatever I can myself, but when you end up with an embarrassingly, hilarious deer that looks like this, you know it’s time to call in the professionals. Please, laugh with me-I will feel better.

Embarrassing DeerYou never know how long a pop culture reference will last, but I figure that everyone at least has heard about the “Walking Dead” show, even if they stopped watching after season 6. I had a fun time making this page though admittedly, I dreaded completing it for a very long time. I didn’t exactly know how I wanted to lay this page out. Whenever I need inspiration however, I turn to Pinterest and usually find something there. I scoured for panel layouts and settled on the following.

Layout Decision

You can see how I modified it to accommodate my needs. Using the basic shape tools in Illustrator and the Pathfinder tool, I was able to inlay the circle map shape in the center of my page. I think it worked out well. I want to use as many locations, regions, and country examples throughout my book as possible so that readers get a better understanding of the map WHILE applying them to geographic concepts. Would you like to see a place in particular highlighted? Let me know! I bet I could work it in.

When we visited Chiang Mai, it was HOT to say the least. As backpackers, my husband and I travel minimal. However, we do allow ourselves to splurge on 1 or 2 hotel stays that rejuvenate our legs and allow for a hot shower and breakfast. In Chiang Mai, we basically tripped into the most exquisite 5-star hotel, one that I am sure is difficult to top. We must have looked ridiculous walking into the foyer with our enormous backpacks as the wait staff offered us chilled washcloths to cool our faces. We did NOT fit in. It was unfortunately, a dream that I could only afford in Thailand. I do have dreams of one day returning to the Anantara, Chiang Mai. I digress.

I am trying to build my Pinterest site, you can check out my boards here: HUMANIMPRINT PINTEREST. I mainly use it for illustration inspiration, and the occasional DIY home improvement project. I signed up for a webinar today about how to maximize the use of Pinterest for my readers, I hope I learn something. The blogger putting it on is named Melyssa Griffin. She is petite, cute, has perfect teeth-and is a stay-at-home blogger making loads of cash from webinars. I am none of the above. I do admire those who can do it, it is a fascinating and growing field. This webinar is free, so we will see if I like it.
